Greetings/Hola/Hello/etc., it's your own Professor Lyman Banner, here to give you a lesson of a particular deck. Today, it will consist of some Machines. These aren't ordinary Machines either. When this Archetype was designed by KONAMI, I believe that it was mostly inspired by the Mechanisms in our day-to-day lives. The Karakuri ningyō are mechanized puppets or automata from Japan from the 17th century to 19th century.

In Yu-Gi-Oh!, they are characterized by these mechanisms, and so, out came the "Karakuri" archetype.

Karakuri's History


An example



Also, in their card names, they have three(3) letters before a number. "mdl". What this means, is "model". So with "Karakuri Ninja mdl 919 "Kuick"", the spoken name(if you were say everything) would be the following: "Karkuri Ninja model 919 "Kuick"".


Every "Karakuri" monster is an EARTH-attribute, Machine-Type monster, except for one, which is DARK-attribute. They made their official debut in the booster pack Starstrike Blast. This archetype is one of the few that was not shown in any of the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime.

Throughout this Article, you will find every "Karakuri" Monster(as well as "Karakuri" Support) will have a little bit of information on it. To begin, the "Karakuri" have absolutely zero(0) Vanilla(Normal) Monsters. They have twelve(12) Effect Monsters. They have five(5) Spells. They have three(3) Traps. They have two(2) Synchro monsters(both of which have effects).

If you haven't noticed throughout all these effects, the standard effect is that they must attack, unless an effect restricts them from doing so. Also, all of them switch Battle Positions when they are targeted for an attack, some more specific than others, like "Haipa".

Now that we've gone over every Main Deck "Karakuri" card, let's move into the Extra Deck "Karakuri" cards. These have stronger effects and don't have as many restrictions as your Normal "Karakuri" Effect monsters have.

With all decks, they have their strengths...but they also have their weaknesses. Click the Spoiler below to learn about the weaknesses that "Karakuri" have, and what to do to keep them alive if a duel where you're at a disadvantage should occur.

And with that, this conclude the entire "Karakuri" Line-up, with all the Monsters, Spells, and Traps. But we're not done yet. Next, I'll be going into some Recommended Cards for different types of "Karakuri" decks.

I plus'd this.
One really minor mistake I find is that the Counter Trap only negates Spells/Traps.. But you put in Chariot, which negates only monster effects.

I plus'd this.
One really minor mistake I find is that the Counter Trap only negates Spells/Traps.. But you put in Chariot, which negates only monster effects.

Nice guide.

Just always have to be careful about those Cyber Dragons. I do like how the archtype can go into Beast and Barkion easily.

very nice article. but i just have to say that u didnt mention the ninishi duplication otk. u no, summon ninishi, then activate mech dupe and get out 2 more ninishi and use its eff to summon a lvl 4 and then do karakuri shenanigans

u also forgot to mention some tech cards like mech dupe and naturia beast and barkion

very nice article. but i just have to say that u didnt mention the ninishi duplication otk. u no, summon ninishi, then activate mech dupe and get out 2 more ninishi and use its eff to summon a lvl 4 and then do karakuri shenanigans

u also forgot to mention some tech cards like mech dupe and naturia beast and barkion


The Ninishi Machine Duplication OTK is pretty much the the as the Machine Duplication Karakuri OTK mentioned within the article. The mentioning of "tech" cards was also mentioned throughout that portion of the article.
