1. Host Duel Modes
Hurray! We finally finished forced matches and added a variety of new way to host your Duels! This is a huge update which involves a lot of changes so this part of this guide will be lengthy to explain exactly how all of this will work. Not only has forced matches been added to Dueling Network but we have introduced an entirely new rating system to complement its release (more on this later.) When hosting a Duel you will now see a drop down in the "Host a Duel" box with 3 options on what kind of Duel you can host, I will go through all 3:
1.1 Single (with siding)*
This is how Dueling Network has typically handled all Duels ever since our Side Deck update from last year. When a Duel is over and a player admits defeat, either player can offer their opponent a rematch, when the rematch is accepted, both players will be taken to the siding screen and will be able to use their Side Deck before starting the next Duel. This is nothing new. Single Duels will use the old rating system and administrators will now forcefully be able to give out a game loss during single Duels.
1.2 Single (no siding)*
This new way of Dueling will allow a player to host a Duel in which use of the Side Deck is completely forbidden. When this type of hosted Duel ends with a player admitting defeat, either player can still offer a rematch, however, when the rematch is accepted, both players are taken straight to the rock paper scissors screen where the loser of the previous Duel will be able to pick first or second. The siding screen will be completely skipped. Single Duels will use the old rating system and administrators will be able to forcefully give out a game loss during single Duels.
1.3 2 out of 3 Match*
Forced matches are here and they come with a new separate rating and ranking system! Winning a match will not count to your single Duel statistics, instead, we have placed new statistics viewable from the profile viewer that displays all of your statistics for matches as well as single Duels. Rankings and ratings will be separate, meaning there will be a top 100 for single Duels and an entirely different top 100 for matches. Administrators will be able to now forcefully give out a game or match loss during a match. Administrators will also be able to cancel a single game (in a very rare case of a glitch) or cancel the entire match where it is deemed appropriate.
*All hosted Duels will now display the type of Duel that is being hosted by a member to the left of that players rating and experience. The rating and experience displayed will be the appropriate rating and experience based on the type of Duel that is hosted.
2. New Rating System
To implement matches successfully and fairly we have decided to introduce a new rating system that will record and display match statistics and match EXP separate to single Duel statistics and single Duel EXP. All your current EXP and rating statistics will remain and will be part of only your single Duel statistics. Your EXP value for single Duels and your EXP value for matches will be added together to form your overall EXP. Here is the guideline to how EXP and rating will be awarded for matches (the system for singles remains the same as previous.)
Experience:
- EXP will given on a per Duel basis.
- If a player admits defeat EXP is given at the end of that Duel with the same point allocation as single Duels before the next game of the match begins.
- The only time both players will not receive EXP is if a player quits during the first Duel in a match.
- Rating will be awarded and deducted from players at the end of the entire match.
- Since matches typically take longer to complete than a single Duel, the rating gained and lost will be about double what you would receive from a single Duel.
- Winning a match 2-0 will give a player slightly more rating than if they were to win 2-1. Therefore it is in your best interest to try and win a match 2-0 in order to gain slightly more rating.
The Profile Viewer has been now updated to display the new match statistics. You will be able to view both your single Duel and match statistics and rankings directly from your profile. Remember that only the appropriate statistics will be affected when you host the appropriate Duel.
2.2 Ranking System Update
The ranking system has been updated and now includes a new tab to display a ranking based on total EXP. EXP from both your single Duel statistics and your match statistics will be added together to give your total EXP value. The top 100 players will be displayed in this tab. There is also the addition of a single and match switcher so you can view the rankings for matches and singles separately. This option is located at the bottom right of the rankings page as radio buttons.
3. New Lobby: Unlimited (Unrated)
With this update you can see the addition of a little black arrow button that has been placed to the far bottom right of Traditional (Unrated). Clicking this button will change the Traditional (Unrated) Lobby to Unlimited (Unrated.) Unlimited (Unrated) acts like Traditional in which banned cards are allowed, however it also let's you bypass limit restrictions on cards. So you can add 3 "Dark Hole" into your Deck and be able to Duel in Unlimited (Unrated) freely. With this new lobby, you can customize ban lists to your liking, you can play with previous ban lists or formats with friends by creating Decks that once followed them or you can simply make your own and Duel in a world where "Monster Reborn" and "Solemn Judgment" are not limited! So how is it possible to do this when the Deck Constructor forbids you from adding more than the legal limit? Let's have a look at the next update.
4. "Bypass Card Limit" Option
When entering the Deck Constructor a few things have changed. The first of which is the addition of the new check box that allows you to bypass the current card limits on cards. When constructing a Deck, the system normally will not allow you to add cards into your Deck that would bypass current card limits according to the current ban list, however, in order to play in the new Duel lobby, we will allow you to bypass this restriction by checking a check box. The check box is located at the very bottom of the search results. Any Deck's made by bypassing card limit will only be legal in the new lobby and not be playable in any other lobby.
5. Call an admin anytime during your rated Duel/match
We have now added the call admin button to every screen of a rated Duel/match (this includes rock paper scissors and siding where it was previously unavailable.) You will now be able to call an admin at anytime during your rated Duel or match. In order to do this successfully we have had to move the "Sort Deck" option from the siding screen, you can find more information on that in part 7 of this guide. The call admin button is not to be abused and misused for reasons other than the ones listed.
6. "Save Deck As" Option
Below "Save Deck" is a new and very much requested button we have called "Save Deck As." This new option will allow members to save their currently selected Deck as a new Deck with a new name, similiar to how a "Save As..." option works on your computer. This means that you can create a completely new Deck by using your currently selected Deck as a template without having to rebuild the Deck entirely from scratch.
7. "Sort Deck" Option
With the addition of the "Save Deck As" option we have had to move the "Sort Deck" option elsewhere to make space. This option now appears on the border of your Deck contents as a click-able "AZ" icon with an arrow. Clicking this button will sort your Deck just as the old "Sort Deck" button did.
8. "Set as Default" in Duel Room
As requested, players sometimes wish to change their default Deck spontaneously in the Duel Room. We now allow you to set a Deck as your default directly from the Duel Room so you do not have to go back and load the Deck Constructor again. This option is located under the Deck selector in the Duel Room.
9. Deck colors in Duel Room
When selecting a Deck for use from the Duel Room, you will see that your Decks are written in different colors. These colors correspond to the type of Deck you have build and which lobby(ies) the Deck is playable in.
- If you have constructed a Deck with no banned cards and have not used the "Bypass card limit" function, your Deck is playable in: all lobbies and will be colored blue-green.
- If you have constructed a Deck with banned cards but have not used the "Bypass card limit" function, your Deck is playable in: Traditional (Unrated) and Unlimited (Unrated,) and will be colored red.
- If you have constructed a Deck using the "Bypass card limit" function, your Deck is playable only in: Unlimited (Unrated) and will be colored Gray.
10. New search parameters
We have also added some new search parameters into the Deck Constructor. We have shrunk the ATK and DEF search boxes and placed them side by side to allow space for you to search cards in new ways. The first is being able to search by a cards limit. If you wish to search Dueling Network's card database for banned cards ONLY, you can select a limit of "0" and only banned cards will displayed in your search results. Searching for only limited cards will require you to select "1" etc. This option will make building Decks for the new lobby easier, as well as allowing you to quickly find a bunch of staples!
The second search option will further order your search results. Dueling Network does it's best to keep our members fully updated with the latest cards as they are confirmed for their release and we get many questions like "when will this card will be added?" "Has this card been added?" Or even, "What has been added recently?" This new order option will allow you to order your search results and see what has been recently added to Dueling Network. Simply selecting "New first" and hitting enter or search will show you the order in which cards have been added to Dueling Network, with the newest shown first. You can also switch back to the default alphabetical order if you wish by selecting "Alpha."
11. Bug fixes
Due to our incentive for players to find reproducible bugs and report them to us, we hope that we have been able to successfully squash what we believe caused 99% of the bugs and glitches on Dueling Network! Hopefully players will no longer have issues that require them to call administrators for any glitch related issues. Enjoy a bug free Dueling environment with these updates
Happy Dueling!!
