Hello there!

This thread is to help YOU build your very own deck! This guide is to help the beginners of the game, but hey, if you are a seasoned duelist who just wants to give this a read, by all means go ahead. :) I am assuming you already know all the rules of the game and are just looking to get your creative deck building juices going. This is my first time building a guide, and I thought I'd make it because I want to help the DN community. So without further ado, let's get this started.

Step #1: Pick A Theme

Step #2: What is your goal?

Step #3: Main Deck Part 1 - Choose the monsters you want to command!

Step #4: Main Deck Part 2 - Choose the spells you wish to cast!

Step #5: Main Deck Part 3 ...

Note: This guide will soon be editted to add content for the extra deck and side deck, as well as finishing touches~

Thank you for reading, I hope it helped! :) Happy deck building! And if you have any questions, please feel free to ask on this thread or via PM.

Interesting, many people will really need this. A little suggestion... in Step #5, you should mention Royal Decree. It's really more useful than Treacherous Trap Hole if you don't run more than 5 Traps. Again, really good idea to write this guide.

Thank you very much :) I have added "Royal Decree" to the guide.

Sigh, I always wanted to make a deck building guide, but I guess that'll won't be necessary anymore. Damn procrastination.
Good article. Deserve to be in the article section instead of here, but stickied works too. You might want to streamline the guide if you wish it to be stickied.

This guide would be quite helpful if I was a player new to deck building. You do however need to streamline and summarize. It's great that you have included links to examples and helpful pages. Although if I may suggest... lose the trap-creeper.

No offense to BagelBoi, but this deckbuilding guide is arguably a LOT better.

It's a longer read, but it goes into many details that this one doesn't. Synergy, card advantage, and a more in-depth look at individual card choices are included, as well as an Extra Deck and Side Deck guide.

That guide is one of the best and more up-to-date guides I've seen.

i read that guide and i stopped after reading "the deck MUST have 40 cards" " the deck MUST have staples" "stuational cards are useless"

i don't agree with any of that

this is a very very very big over simplification on how to make a deck and closely mirrors that video 4 kids stuck at the end of thier dvd
but otherwise it's fine and up to date

wolfiejim don't take no guff from no one and asks the hard hitting questions.

From one perspective, heterosexuality is limiting yourself of potential sexual/life partners. So, if one defined life only by the amount of pleasure they could endure in it, it could be seen as irrational. From another perspective, you're talking to a god damned wolf.

Also, 3 Soul is the correct number to run. If you were to draw it and you can't combo off, you wouldn't have combo'd off anyways.

Used spoilers to make it seem less like an essay. :)

Thank you Roxzen, Boxy, wolfiejim & Antoni. n_n I would appreciate this being stickied. Btw what do you mean by streamline?

@Jabber2033, I just thought DN needed its own deck-building guide on its forum. Thank you for providing the link though, hopefully new players can also get more tips through that thread as well. :)

Thanks BagelBoi, I did need some help with my deck. Although, I wouldn't know what Archetype to classify it in. It's headlined by the Dark Magician family, and as such it's Spellcaster-based.
